Some days it’s just a lot of hard work. I spent the day slowly working my way down through a layer of pale blue sandstone about a foot square and never saw a bone. This is okay since I was hoping to get around and isolate a bunch of tiny surface bones for removal later. I am just about guaranteed to run into more bone in another fraction of an inch, though, and that’s okay, too. Progress is good, but we will need to get our photogrammetry in place very soon- all this progress is slowly removing evidence. We also need a reliable way to record the nature of the rock as we work through it, not just the bones. I think it’s going to be an interesting and complicated story.
Some days of prep are just slow and tedious and boring, but this won’t last for long!
